Olympus pen lite (e-pl5) Shutter button teardown

I ran into a problem with my e-pl5 camera body: the shutter button was not working well anymore. When I was fully pressing it, the picture was indeed taken, but nothing happened when I was half-pressing the button, so the camera was not making focus anymore... My guess was that it was a short circuit in the shutter button.
After tearing it down a few times, each time cleaning and manipulating the shutter button, it now works again like the first day I bought the camera.

Here are some pictures of the tear-down of my Olympus E-PL5. I guess it is very similar on the E-PL6 and E-PL7 given the fact that there are almost the same cameras.

Back cover

To remove the back cover, remove 2 long screw on the bottom part:
and 3 short screw on the bottom part also:

Then remove the visible screws from the left and right sides:

And the one hidden in the USB trap:

There are also 4 screw under the flash shoe (the small metal plate is already removed on the picture, you have to remove it by using a slot screw drive on the front part):

And you can finally open the back part of the camera:

Unplug the 2 connections from the right side of the camera:

And it's done for the back cover.

Top cover

The next step is to remove the top cover. There are only 3 screw left that hold the top plate.
On the right side (the white one on the picture, not the black one):
And the 2 left in the flash shoe:

You should also unplug two cables under the black tape:
Now you can remove the top cover, it should slide from the front to the back:

The shutter button

Now there is still one step to reach the shutter button.
Unscrew the screw that is under the black cover as seen on this picture:

And the 2 other screw that are on the side part:
And now you're done.
The metal plate that hold the shutter button should now be free to let go. You have to gently pull it from the side and you should be able to spin it toward the top, as seen on the following picture (I'm sorry, this one is really bad and blur... but I had to use the phone as the camera was being tear down...):

So once here, after some cleaning and manipulation of the shutter button, it was finally working as new when the camera was full again !

Thank you for an Excellent description.
I have the same camera with a shutter button issue and intermittent display cable (new one en route from China).
